HOLY MASS AND THE EUCHARIST - HOME & SYLLABUS
“Holy Mass and the Eucharist” (ST/LT 196) is dedicated to the history and theology of the Mass. Students will explore at length the biblical origins of Catholic understandings of the Mass and will study the development of eucharistic theology in the Catholic Tradition. In addition, students will examine several of the most significant magisterial documents on the Eucharist, including the teachings of the Council of Trent, Pope Pius XII, Pope Paul VI, the Second Vatican Council, and Pope Benedict XVI.
The material of this course builds upon the more basic Paul VI Institute course on sacraments titled “Catholic Sacramental and Liturgical Theology” (LT 101).
